Nosy Komba's most popular inhabitants are the LEMURS. That's why Nosy Komba is also called the Lemurs island, therefore let's start with lemurs!

Nosy Komba is the second island of the Nosy Be archipelago I'm going to present to you. The first island I presented was Nosy Iranja which was known for its paradise beach. Now Nosy Komba is known for its Macacolemurs or BLACK LEMURS.

Black lemurs live only in the north-west of Madagascar. On the island of Nosy Komba they are considered SACRED by their inhabitants and thus are protected because of the fady (cultural prohibition). Therefore, on this island it is prohibited to hunt, kill or disturb the lemurs in any way! A fady in Madagascar is more respected than a law, so be sure that lemurs on Nosy Komba are safe!

🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡

In my pictures you can see 2 colors of lemurs:

🖤black & 🧡brown-orangish, so which one is the black lemur?

You might say it's logical, the black lemur is the black one! WRONG!!!

The right answer is BOTH ARE BLACK LEMURS!

The difference is:

🖤 The black one is MALE

🧡 The brown-orangish is FEMALE

and both are the Black lemur.

And their orange 🧡eye🧡color is impressive too!

They live in groups of 20 and guess who is dominant, the male or the female?

That's right, the FEMALE IS THE BOSS 😎😁

Nosy Komba shelters around 5000 lemurs in a dense tropical forest.

Which picture is the cutest?

For me definitely picture 2 😻
